Application instructions 2024

To apply to the Story Academy, please follow these instructions:

​

  1. Obtain a copy of your birth certificate issued within the past three months.

  2. Prepare your resume and transcript or course certificate from your previous studies.

  3. Gather any job references or certificates, such as a letter of recommendation (maximum one sheet of A4 paper) if applicable.

  4. Write a personal statement that includes the following:

  • A description of who you are and why you want to take the course

  • Your experience working in screenwriting

  • A description of where you see yourself professionally in 5 years
     

  1. Prepare samples of your work, including:

  • A summary of an existing commercial film (no more than 20 years old, one side of a sheet of A4 paper)

  • Two scenes in screenplay format (3 pages each)

  • 1 "one-pager" in which you describe an idea you want to develop
     

  • Compile all of your work samples into a PDF with numbered pages. Label the document with your name and personal identification number.

  • Email your application to applications@storyacademy.se no later than April 30.
     

After the application deadline, applicants will be chosen for an online video interview. During the interview, you may also be asked to take an oral test to demonstrate your knowledge and level of experience. Notification of acceptance will be sent out at the end of June or the beginning of July.
 

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent qualifications, a keen interest in screenwriting for films, and the ambition to work as a screenwriter in the film industry.

To apply to the Story Masterclass, please follow these instructions:

  1. Obtain a copy of your birth certificate issued within the past three months.

  2. Prepare your resume and transcript or course certificate from your previous studies.

  3. Gather any job references or certificates, such as a letter of recommendation (maximum one sheet of A4 paper) if applicable.

  4. Write a personal statement that includes the following:

  • A description of who you are and why you want to take the course

  • Your experience working in screenwriting

  • A description of where you see yourself professionally in 5 years
     

  1. Prepare samples of your work written in English, including:

  • Two feature film concepts (no longer than one side of a sheet of A4 paper each) with a scene in screenplay format (no longer than two sides of a sheet of A4 paper) for each concept

  • Two concepts for drama series (no longer than one side of a sheet of A4 paper each) with a scene in screenplay format (no longer than two sides of a sheet of A4 paper) for each concept
     

  • Compile all of your work samples into a PDF with numbered pages. Label the document with your name and personal identification number.

  • Email your application to applications@storyacademy.se no later than April 30.
     

After the application deadline, a selection process will be held with international assessors. Notification of acceptance will be sent out at the end of June or beginning of July.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent qualifications, professional experience in screenwriting and scriptwriting or a related field, and experience writing screenplays for short films, feature films, or drama series.

To apply to the Story Showrunner program, please follow these instructions:

  1. Obtain a copy of your birth certificate issued within the past three months.

  2. Prepare your resume and transcript or course certificate from your previous studies.

  3. Gather any job references or certificates, such as a letter of recommendation (maximum one sheet of A4 paper) if applicable.

  4. To apply, you must submit a concept for a miniseries consisting of 6 15-minute episodes. The series should have a small number of characters and a tightly focused subject matter.

  5. In the first step of the application process, you will need to submit:

  • A personal letter explaining why you are the right person to lead the work as a showrunner

  • A logline and one-pager for your concept
     

  1. If you are chosen to proceed to the second stage of the application process, you will need to submit:

  • A logline or paragraph for each episode

  • A screenplay for the first episode
     

  • Compile all of your work samples into a PDF with numbered pages. Label the document with your name and personal identification number.

  • Email your application to applications@storyacademy.se no later than April 30.
     

After the application deadline, eligible applicants will be chosen for an online video interview. During the interview, you may also be asked to take an oral test to demonstrate your knowledge and level of experience. Notification of acceptance will be sent out in May-June.

Applicants must have documented previous screenwriting and production experience to be eligible for the program. The application process has two steps, and if you reach the second stage, there will be several work performance tests.
